MBA Lunch & Learn: Lauren Barkume, Aid to Artisans

Lauren Barkume is the Training Director at Creative Learning’s Aid to Artisans division, based in Washington DC. With over 17 years of experience in international development and artisan programs, Lauren has also spent a substantial amount of time in South Africa working directly with entrepreneurs, artisans and small businesses in the region, developing community co-created programs, designing and running practical business skills workshops for small business owners, and working in collaboration with artisan communities across Southern Africa. In 2021 she launched Artisan Business Lab, an online learning platform powered by Aid to Artisans for global creative entrepreneurs. In 2022, she developed an in depth online self-paced course called Artisan Costing and Pricing, and regularly speaks to entrepreneurs in the creative industry on a variety of topics related to export and the international retail sector. She also owns a photography business servicing business owners, couples and families in the Washington D.C. area. Lauren cares deeply about facilitating responsive, community driven development.
