What should I wear?
The dress code is business casual (updated from business professional). Suits, blazers, dresses, or professional separates are all appropriate. Choose shoes that are comfortable enough for standing and walking throughout the day. Rooms can be cool, so bring a blazer or light sweater.
What should I bring?
Bring a notebook or tablet for taking notes, a pen, your Georgetown name tag, and a phone charger. A small snack and a water bottle are also recommended. Most importantly, bring a positive attitude and be ready to engage with others.
You MUST bring a physical copy of your ID to the Conference.
How should I engage with speakers and panelists?
Read speaker bios beforehand so you can ask thoughtful and specific questions. During sessions, keep questions brief and relevant to the topic. Afterward (time permitting), introduce yourself, thank them for their insights, and, if appropriate, ask to connect on LinkedIn with a short personalized note referencing your conversation.
How can I network effectively?
Be curious and open. Ask other attendees about their roles, interests, or experiences at Georgetown. Exchange contact information or connect on LinkedIn rather than collecting business cards you may not use. Try to meet new people throughout the day instead of staying with one group. If you’re unsure how to start a conversation, ask about someone’s favorite session or what brought them to the event.
When should I arrive?
Check-in starts at 8:30. Plan to arrive early to allow time for parking, GUTS bus complications, registration, and finding your seat before the opening remarks.
Are food and drinks provided?
Light breakfast and coffee will be available in the morning, followed by a networking reception in the afternoon. Details and locations are listed below.
Can I take photos?
Yes. Photos are encouraged, especially during networking breaks or receptions. Please avoid using flash during panels or speaker sessions. When posting, tag @gwib_msb and be sure to send us your photos for the website!
Who can I contact for help during the day?
GWiB board members and volunteers will be available throughout the venue.
