2026 Month of Volunteerism

Join Georgetown MBA Volunteers for a dining hall lunch shift with So Others Might Eat (SOME), serving meals to DC residents in need. No experience necessary. Volunteer Opportunity: Dining Room Service at SOME's Father John Adams Resource Center

About the Opportunity: SOME's Dining Room serves over 1,000 nourishing breakfasts and lunches every day to those experiencing homelessness and poverty, with support from nearly 10,000 volunteers annually, including our Provide-A-Meal groups.

Volunteer Tasks:

Food Prep
Assist with plating and passing out meals
Refill drinks and help with dishwashing
Clean up and reset the dining room


Requirements:

Volunteers must be 13+ years or older to volunteer. Any volunteer 13 - 15 years old must have a guardian signed up to accompany them.
Up to twelve (12) volunteers are needed per shift
Volunteers must stay until 1:30 pm to help with cleaning after the last plate is served at 1pm
All volunteers must create an account in SOME's Volunteer Portal, including those in group reservations
Sign-in required at 71 O Street NW to receive hours and avoid being marked absent


Additional Information:

Parking & Metro Access: Free all-day parking on O Street between 1st and 3rd Street. Closest Metro station: NoMa/Gallaudet (Red Line), approximately 0.5 miles from SOME.
Dress Code: Volunteers must wear flat, closed-toed shoes. Avoid tank tops, sleeveless shirts, crop tops, revealing or tight-fitting clothing, and short-shorts. Hairnets/hats, aprons, and gloves (provided by SOME) are required for food handlers.
Food Handling: Disposable gloves are required, and SOME provides them. Food handlers cannot wear fingernails extending more than one inch beyond their fingertip and must remove jewelry unless necessary for special circumstances.

Attached fliers: 1. Rapid Pass- this will help to save 15 minutes and only can be done the day of the blood drive.
2. Blood Donor App- this will track the blood journey if appointments are made through the app, blood type and appointments, get mini physical results.
3. Power Red- information for donors with specific blood types that take double the blood and takes a bit longer about 90 minutes.

Volunteers to help facilitate the drive will be drawn from MMA and Volunteers members initially, if not all slots are filled an additional Campus Groups volunteering shift event will be created and published closer to the event.

TLDR; Join Georgetown MBA Volunteers for a morning of service with the National Park Service at East Potomac Park and Hains Point. Typical projects are mulching or litter cleanup. NPS provides tools/equipment - bring your own water.

Volunteers will be picking up trash and recyclables at Hains Point. Volunteers will meet and exit at Hains Point Golf Course Parking lot. Volunteers will be walking around Hains Point for 3.2 miles for area beautification.

Please understand that the needs of the park vary and assignments are decided based on those needs, and are subject to change. All projects are equally important and your work is appreciated by all of the park staff.

What to bring the day of the project:
Water and snacks or box lunch
Closed toed shoes and appropriate clothing
Sunscreen and other personal needs
Signed volunteer agreement.
Weather Cancellation: The cancellation of a project during inclement weather (i.e. light to medium rain) will be decided by your group leader. However, the National Park Service will cancel projects during severe weather conditions (i.e. thunder and lightning).

Important note for special guests: Please notify National Park staff of any special guest, including your company’s CEO, CFO, or senior level executives, who will be attending the volunteer project.

Commercial Photography and Media:
The 301A form only needs to be filled out by the group leader. Everyone else will sign 301b a sign in sheet at the project site. (If participates are under 18 each user agreement has to be filled out by a parent or guardian). Forms will be available and can be filled out on-site.

Welcome to City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue (CDCK)! We are so excited to have the Georgetown University MBA Volunteers Club joining us for a very special evening, our 15th Anniversary Celebration!

For 15 years, CDCK has been dedicated to rescuing adoptable dogs and cats in overcrowded and under-resourced shelters and finding them loving forever homes. As an almost entirely volunteer-powered organization, our incredible community of fosters and volunteers is truly the heart of everything we do. This anniversary is a chance to celebrate 15 years of Rescue. Compassion. Community. and the thousands of lives that have been changed along the way.

Instead of spending the evening working, many of the people who give countless hours to CDCK throughout the year will get to be our guests, and we couldn't do that without you.

Volunteer roles include guest check-in, welcome & hospitality, silent auction, photo booth, Signature Wall, caricature artist and psychic reading liaisons, sponsor/vendor support, merchandise & information, mission ambassadors, floaters, and more. There are also opportunities to help with setup and breakdown. Setup and breakdown are add-on roles, so if you choose one of those, please also select an event role.

Join Georgetown MBA Volunteers for a bowling outing with KEEN Greater DC (Kids Enjoy Exercise Now), which provides free, judgment-free recreation for children and young adults with disabilities. Volunteers are matched with KEEN participants ("athletes") for one-on-one bowling and encouragement - no experience needed. TLDR; Join Georgetown MBA Volunteers for a morning of park stewardship with the Dumbarton Oaks Park Conservancy (DOPC). DOPC supplies gloves, tools, training, snacks, and water.
