TENTATIVE Holiday Helpings Volunteer Event
HH History
Holiday Helpings is an annual Bread for the City program, offered every year to help our community members resource their needs as we all prepare to celebrate the holidays. Going on its 31st year, Holiday Helpings provides a turkey, holiday fixings, and fresh produce so that thousands of DC families living on low income can enjoy a Thanksgiving meal in their own homes.
Activity Overview
Volunteers will be filling various roles in our HH distribution. Some will hand out pre-bagged groceries, along with the community member’s choice of turkey or chicken. Others will pack those pre-bagged groceries with items (largely sourced from Capitol Area Food Bank). Finally, folks will assist in breaking down boxes/managing recycling, and keeping our “back of house” area clean through the shift.

TENTATIVE Beaujolais Nouveau Day Tasting
Beaujolais Nouveau Day is marked in France on the third Thursday in November with fireworks, music and festivals. Under French law, the wine is released at 12:01 a.m., just weeks after the wine’s grapes have been harvested. Parties are held throughout the country and further afield to celebrate the first wine of the season.
