Join us for an inspiring afternoon of conversation, connection, and reflection at The Madwoman in the Attic: Hidden Potential to Visible Leadership, the 2026 Graduate Women in Business Annual Conference. Centered on the question, “What was the attic you had to escape?”, this year’s conference brings together women across industries and communities to share the experiences, challenges, and turning points that shaped their paths. Through candid conversations and meaningful connections, the program will explore what it takes to move from hidden potential to visible leadership.

Panel Discussion: Breaking Limits, Building Leaders

Trailblazing women share how they’ve led with confidence and resilience while advancing equity in their fields. Explore practical strategies for building inclusive spaces, fostering allyship, and shaping the next chapter of leadership.

Trailblazing women share the experiences that shaped their paths to leadership, including the barriers they had to challenge, the expectations they had to redefine, and the moments that pushed them to step more fully into their potential.

Framed by the conference’s central question, “What was the attic you had to escape?”, this conversation will explore the parts of leadership journeys that are not always visible from the outside.

The panel will be followed by an audience Q&A. The draft agenda places the panel at 11:45 AM and the Q&A at 12:30 PM.

    Community Activity: Build Together

From bold career pivots to reimagining success on their own terms, this discussion highlights inspiring journeys of women who have embraced uncertainty, unlocked new opportunities, and learned to harmonize ambition with well-being along the way.

This interactive session will allow attendees to reflect on their own experiences, connect, and contribute to a shared conversation around confidence, community, and creating space for women to lead.

The 2026 agenda currently schedules this community activity for 1:45 PM.

Industry-Specific Discussions: Industry Insights, Career Impact

Attendees will break into smaller industry-focused conversations designed to create more direct and meaningful engagement with professionals and peers.

These discussions will provide a space to explore career paths, industry trends, transitions, challenges, and opportunities, while allowing attendees to ask questions that may not come up in a larger panel setting.

  • FAQ

    What should I wear?

The dress code is business casual. Blazers, dresses, professional separates, and other polished but comfortable attire are appropriate. We recommend comfortable shoes since attendees may move between sessions and networking spaces throughout the day.

    What should I bring?

Bring a notebook or tablet for taking notes, a pen, your Georgetown name tag, and a phone charger. Most importantly, bring a positive attitude and be ready to engage with others.

You MUST bring a physical copy of your ID to the Conference.

How should I engage with speakers and panelists?

Read speaker bios beforehand so you can ask thoughtful and specific questions. During sessions, keep questions brief and relevant to the topic. Afterward (time permitting), introduce yourself, thank them for their insights, and, if appropriate, ask to connect on LinkedIn with a short personalized note referencing your conversation.

    How can I network effectively?

Be curious and open. Ask other attendees about their roles, interests, or experiences at Georgetown. Exchange contact information or connect on LinkedIn rather than collecting business cards you may not use. Try to meet new people throughout the day instead of staying with one group. If you’re unsure how to start a conversation, ask about someone’s favorite session or what brought them to the event.

    When should I arrive?

Registration begins at 11:00 AM. We recommend arriving early enough to check in, get settled, and be seated before opening remarks begin at 11:30 AM.

    Are food and drinks provided?

Light refreshments will be available during registration, followed by lunch during the conference. A networking reception will begin at 5:00 PM.

    Can I take photos?

Yes. Photos are encouraged, especially during networking breaks or receptions. Please avoid using flash during panels or speaker sessions. When posting, tag @gwib_msb and be sure to send us your photos for the website!

Who can I contact for help during the day?

GWiB board members and volunteers will be available throughout the venue.
